Hi, our dear backers!

Hope you are doing well,

We’ve been receiving a lot of questions concerning the details of our current stage.

Our team used this time working on the maglev system, getting a demo version, developing a mobile application.

As a result, by the end of September, we will have a fully redesigned demo version of the Moon ready to be transited from SoM to SoC design.

It actually means after the demo version we can enter a final stage of development.

We have Qualcomm confirmed but still, some engineering stuff is to be done on it, but globally our hardware team is ok with a decision to use Qualcomm.

The next stage is a fully new quality and intensiveness of work between hardware and software teams.

This was a very tough journey with so many obstacles and challenges, but it seems that it's a light at the end of a long, dark tunnel!)

Happy to share this with you!

Thanks for being with the Moon project,

Best regards,

The Moon team

Hi dear backers,

First of all, let us thank you for your feedback, it does not let us feel down.

Last month was an interesting one.

As You may remember we had to move from SoM (System on Module) design to SoC (System on Chip), and Qualcomm has been chosen for that.  Then we had to go through registration processes, and after we've got access to models, we purchased evaluation boards. They have an Android specific firmware, so what we will do now is to place drivers and firmware under Linux, after which we will develop main software based on it. In the same time, we remember emotions that we all had for the height of the base unit and wobblings we had.

Now what we've done in line with the processes mentioned above.

But first, let us remind that in our case magnetic levitation has 3 main issues to solve,

  • Stable levitation,
  • Control of the speed and direction of the rotation,
  • Easy detection of levitation spot,

We achieved stable levitation with very little wobbling, which we estimate to eliminate soon. The control of direction and speed is also solved. Detection of levitation spot is also achieved, but we want to make this process more than easy, so work on this issue is ongoing.

We prepared a video to show the results. In the video, you can see how the magnet is levitating and we control its direction and the speed of the spin with a system which you can notice on a monitor. You also can notice how the magnet changes its rotation direction, which was due to a command from the soft system. This was created by our in house software team in cooperation with scientists, we have described this cooperation in our last update. Also, we are preparing documentation to register our new patent, as the whole work that was done during this time is a fab know-how!

Happy to share this with You!

Thanks,

The Moon Team

Hi dear backers!

Sorry for some delay in this update, hope you are doing well.

Last month was some kind of productive for our team and for you also, as we are one step closer to deliver our Moon!

Our embedded software engineers together with the team of skilled physicists achieved interesting results on maglev. We have a breakthrough in levitation control, we were able to resolve the major technological challenge with recent scientific cooperation with the Institute of Physical Researches.

We had achieved higher levitation levels and resolved technical challenges that allowed to increase the levitation level and dynamic flawless control of rotation speed and direction of the camera.

Our software engineers elaborated algorithms for video data streaming as we had to switch from Samsung algorithms, at the same time for the same reason some architectural changes are being done on the server locations.

The hardware team received the Qualcomm evaluation boards and intensively works on it now.

Your claims that our support on IGG comments decreased are fair and we admit that. You know it is a very unusual situation for us, as we always are trying to be responsive on every platform of our communication with you, but for some personal reasons, it was not possible to be as responsive as we were.

Besides, wait for another quick update from our team in the very near future.

Dear Backers, hope You are doing well!

It was a month full of hard work and here are main states of the process.

As You remember, there was wobbling, because of absence of the mechanical contact between base and camera unit, especially while rotation, which needs to be compensated.

Based on architecture attributes, we need to consider while implementation of algorithms for image stabilization, so we are focused on several methods, from which the best one will be finalized and implemented.

At the same time we need to consider the logic of our servers load balancer, which will decide the servers to be used when You stream Your video.

This process also needs to be synchronized with Your countries local lows, as for example, in many countries it is mandatory to keep some types of data also at local servers, even if You use it from abroad.

That is server side part, which is being done.

After we've shortlisted the platforms to rely on, to build new SoC platform, we've started researching for available development kits for them.

There is no need to tell You about how rarely they reply to small companies, but the best officially available platform by Qualcomm was announced to be available in 8-10 weeks as a lead time, starting from ordering, based on "high demand on the market".

So we've urgently found a supplier with it's own developed evaluation board, signed and passed all steps needed, and by the end of the May, we plan to receive and start working on it, as package was already dispatched.

This will let us estimate Qualcomm's CPU, as an option, and start hardware development from beginning, to replace suddenly discontinued Artik part. As You understand, after that story we've switched from SoM (System on Module) to SoC (System on Chip), which is now, at least, one level deeper development, as there were no suppliers being more reliable and available as Samsung was, so the dependency from SoM manufacturers has very high risk.

Our project's goal is to bring new technology to the life, in the field, which is one of the fastest growing and highly risky.  Yes, things went not like the way we planned, but we are still moving forward to the building of the smart environment, and we will rock it for sure!

Respectfully,

1-Ring Team

Hello dear Backers!

The last two weeks our team was busy both on software and hardware development.

After getting license for MFI (Made for Ipod, Iphone,Ipad) certification, we started receiving all the necessary data sheets and documents, from which we are specifying the requirements that the Moon must meet as a hub.

Our software team is changing the server side architecture structure based on the change of the platform, as it must be changed from what was designed for the Samsung Artik.

Also, our team is working on Alexa skill, and demo version is finished, so we can get the data from the embedded sensors like humidity, light and temperature information, and Alexa voices that upon request.

After this process, we will start the submission of  “Work with Alexa” certification program, it is very important to get certified and ensure the availability of the Alexa for our customers.

Besides, the processes for the maglev stabilization with different configurations of electromagnets are on going, hope to share some more details from our physicians achievements in the next update.

Thank You for your time,

Best,

The Moon team
